Singing Harps - Dublin, update
A wonderful night at Woodford House, Sat. Nov. 7th
Singer harpists, Claire Roche and Madeleine Doherty,
served a wonderful concert to open Woodford Sanctuary,
though it seems the marketing name will now be Woodford House
Woodford Sanctuary, or House is a wonderful arts and healing centre conceived by Claire Roche from converted stables
where she ran a livery service 30 years ago.
74 people came along, I was hoping for 100 and Claire was
targeting for 50 people, The discovery now is 75 people is
the maximum that Claire’s venue can comfortably accommodate.
Catering, which I did, was a dream in the Woodford kitchen and dining area.
Madeleine opened with about 20 minutes of tunes and songs
followed by Claire performing 20 minutes songs accompanied by harp
After a short chips, dip and beverage break
Claire returned to perform some songs accompanies by piano
and Madeleine rounded off the the evening concert with
some more tunes, including a beautiful arrangement of
“Somewhere Over The Rainbow” that swooned the audience.
Claire then joined Madeleine for a humourous verse of the
Gracie Fields song, “I Took My Harp To The Party”.
Andrea, last name unknown, a friend of Claire and Madeleine
since school days completed the evening with a beautiful thank you
speech that rounded off all that Woodford was to the friends, and more
friends in the audience, reflecting when they met here to ride and care for horses.
A beautiful performance by Claire and Madeleine
A lot learned about the venue too.
For future events work will be needed on sound and light as it was
surprising that the back row did not get a good sound and the video I took
revealed what needs to be done, which is not difficult, to ensure
absolutely superb future events here at Woodford. A stunning venue!
