"The Traveller's Guide to Sacred Ireland:
A Guide to the Sacred Places of Ireland"
by Cary Meehan
A wonderful field book I use on my travels and the best sacred sites guide book dedicated to Ireland. It is a little heavy as there is so much within.
It is incredibly well organized with colour codes for regions, helpful small maps that work well with OS maps and lovely black and white photography throughout. The only downside is that it does feature a lot of sites on private land and often gives the impression they have public access.
Use this in conjunction with polite and considerate permission from farmers and you'll find this incredibly useful. Easy reading. Not too deep.

"A Guide To Stone Circles Of Britain, Ireland & Brittany"
by Aubrey Burl,   and this is the latest 2005 edition
Another wonderful field guide book I take with me on my travels
because it is as thorough with Ireland as with England.
Full of highly detailed information for all kinds of visitors
such as directions to get there, colourful descriptions,
photos, plans, alignments and deeper mathematics.

"The New View Over Atlantis"
by John Michell,
When I read the first edition in 1969 it all made sense as I was well into magalithics and ley line hunting way back then.
Despite appearing to be a scientific book that's easy to read you'll probably never find it as a school science text book. As anything written about these ancient times its still fantasy and fiction though John Michel makes it incredibly convincing.
Despite its controversial analysis this is a "must have" read for anyone interested in the megalithic sites. Its a book you'll not put down when you start reading. It inspires and enthuses and you'll no longer think of megalithic structures as a load of rocks thrown together by crude natives.
