"Following Lugh"
exploring the Green Man legends through the incarnations of Lugh in Ireland

Green ManCernunnosThis is a new tour that we are introducing from August until the end of this year, and through all of 2008

Through this tour we focus on lesser visited sites and legends of Northern Ireland and its adjoining counties over the border. The theme is following the incarnations of Lugh and his “green man” guides such as Cernunnos, Derg Corra, Puck and Herne.

This is a tour that reflects today’s concerns for conservation and sustainability through the wisdoms of the ancient past. We visit many moorland stone circles, woodland sacred places and revel in the company of bards, poets, jesters and debaters.

This is a tour to explore our commitment as stewards rather than owners. Though this tour seems dedicated to the worlds men it provides a wonderful time for women who either carry the sword for their family, enjoy the company of men and their passions or wish to express their own male spirit within.

This is a fun packed tour for anyone, men and women, where you’ll wonder if Lugh’s name is short for “Laughs”.

To provide more insight into this tour …….

We are currently exploring our itinerary choices for this tour, but it will surely include

a visit to Tory Island where Lugh was born,

through the megalithic sites of Cavan’s Burren

a climb to Lugh’s Seat where he looked over the Battle of Moytura and threw a spear at Balor.

Magh Slechtthen onto Lough na Sool, lake of the eye where Balor’s Eye fell.

An exploration around the ancients sites of Magh Slecht is essential

and then we will move across Northern Ireland such as Derry, Beaghmore stone circles, various sites around Co. Tyrone, the Antrim coast and Co. down.

We will finish at the royal court of Tara Hill and the site of the first Lughnasa celebration games.

Daytime journeys will be tour of sites of ceremony and celebration.

Some evenings will be a revelry in good food in rustic locations followed by indulgences in poetry and performance while others will be a solace for meditation and writing.
