share a Celtic Dreamtime Weekend
and explore some of Erin's ancient traditions
with John of Celtic Ways and singer harper storyteller Claire Roche
we are located in relaxing south Co. Sligo
and very easy to get to by car, bus or train from Dublin,
a perfect relaxed way to commence a vacation in Ireland
our next Samhain weekend is
October 22nd to 24th 2010
A fun and inspiring weekend of sharing traditions, lore and spirituality
with a focus on preparing crafts and gifts for a protected winter
what we share through this weekend …
Friday :
afternoon : meet, greet and settle in
arrive, register, and enjoy a light buffet lunch.
make your own Brigid cross, we'll show you how,
and we will introduce you to our labyrinth garden.
then check in and settle into your accommodation
for some quiet time before joining everyone for an evening meal.
evening : What Does Samhain and Halloween Mean To You?
an evening of sharing your thoughts, stories and poetry
Saturday :
morning : Preparing For Winter In The Kitchen
Join in baking of Samhain breads and preparing yummy recipes for winter
that we can share for lunch. (good fun for guys too:-)
afternoon : Preparing For Winter
Within our labyrinth garden we share stories of Morrigan and winter,
prepare some materials for making dream crafts,
then make a few crafts together in our studio
There will be time for personal use of our labyrinth garden too.
evening : Hearth Ceili
Gather around the hearth of our restored thatched cottage,
amd enjoy ending this day with songs, stories and harps
from Claire Roche and John.
This includes stories about
how the harp arrived in Erin and became its national symbol
Mixed into this are stories of Morrigan
and her mythology connection to the “other world”
Most important, this is a time for some bardic contributions,
poems, stories, songs and music offered by yourselves.
Sunday :
morning : Labyrinth Garden Celebrations
Back to the labyrinth garden to light the fire and use the
blessed water to celebrate what we have shared together.
We raise a toast to those who are not with us through this Samhain time,
and then the labyrinth garden is open for your personal use,
afternoon : Carrowkeel Tour
An oppportunity for visitors to experience our local Carrowkeel Cairns
and its alignments to the Samhain traditions we have shared.
We enter the beautiful remote heart of the Bricklieve mountains
and drive uphill to the cairns, which provides breathtaking views.
Carrowkeel Cairns are stone age sacred passage cairns
that have origins dating back 5500 years ago.
Most folks are familiar with the passage cairns of
Newgrange, Knowth and Loughcrew but we feel these
cairns of Carrowkeel are worth visiting first.
They are older, remoter and allow more personal time
to connect, reflect and dream away.
The landscape here is beautiful, usually a huge surprise for visitors.
At the highest cairns, visitors enjoy views of up to a third of Ireland
on a clear day. From here the alignments are fascinating!
After this adventure, we say our farewells, hand you a keepsake book and cd
and share tips to help you start on your next journey
