Introduction:
With our "Following Columcille" two day tour, we share the sites and stories of events, teachings and symbols of Columcille's life in the counties of Sligo and Donegal.

To do this tour it will be essential for you to to stay in Sligo, Collooney, or Ballymote based accommodation the night before as we set off at 8:30 am. I can arrange this for you.

Our main quest from Spring equinox until Autumn equinox will be to visit Inishmurray Island. This is subject to sensitive weather conditions but a visit there is priceless and something you'll treasure for life. After a tour of the sites and pilgrim stations, the Inishmurray turas, we can either share stories within Tory Bhrennel, the large clochaun, or outside within the Cashel on a warm sunny day.

If landing on Inishmurray island is not possible on the first day we will travel on to Glencolumbkille and walk the Turas trail, a spiritual area related to both Columcille and pre-Christian Ireland. If weather is hostile we will travel onto Gartan, Columcille's birthplace, with a wonderful heritage centre and spiritual sites and maybe Derry, site of Columcille's first monastery.

Our overnight stay will be near Killybegs so we are open to all choices on the second day, according to what the weather serves us.

On our late afternoon or early evening return to Co. Sligo, light permitting, we may visit and discuss the wonderfully sculptured high cross of Drumcliffe on the site of a famous Columcille monastery.

To finish, during the wonderful long days of midsummer, I would love to take you to Taynualt Holy Well. It does not have a known Columcille connection but this is a beautiful place of intense peace and reflection. Everyone I visit with is deeply and lovingly moved by the site of this holy well.
